Water testing and filtration questions, answered.
Understand testing, equipment, installation and ongoing care before deciding what your home needs.
Start with a test. Choose treatment based on your home’s needs.
Start with the water concern you notice
A question about scale may lead to a different conversation from a question about drinking-water taste. Tell the water team where you notice the issue and whether you already have treatment equipment.
Compare equipment, installation and maintenance
Look at the exact model, its documented performance, the installation requirements and replacement components together. A product family name alone does not describe every available configuration.
Bring your existing system details
Your address, current equipment and recent observations help the team prepare. If you are unsure where to begin, an in-home water test provides a place to start.
Your questions, answered.
Is the in-home water test free?
BullDog Water offers an in-home test without a purchase obligation. The team explains the readings, and you keep them whether or not you buy a system. Confirm coverage and the appointment details when scheduling.
How much space does a whole-home system need?
The standard UPSTREAM filter shown on the product information site is listed at about 8 inches square and 56 inches tall. A softener adds its own equipment, including a salt tank. Final space and service-access requirements depend on the selected model and installation.
Does the equipment need electrical power?
BullDog Water describes the UPSTREAM upflow filter as operating without electricity. A softener’s control head requires a suitable outlet. Other equipment can have different requirements, so confirm the complete installation plan.
Which substances can a whole-home filter address?
BullDog Water describes UPSTREAM media combining Red Flint, KDF55 and catalytic carbon and lists chlorine, chloramines, odor-related compounds, sediment and other contaminants among its treatment targets. The exact model’s current performance documentation determines which reduction claims and conditions apply. Ask for that documentation when comparing systems.
How is a filter different from a softener?
Filtration and softening do different jobs. Filters target the substances covered by their specific media and performance ratings. A softener addresses dissolved hardness minerals such as calcium and magnesium. A recommendation may involve one, both, or a different approach after testing.
When should a filter be replaced?
BullDog Water suggests roughly three to six months for an UPSTREAM 11-inch sediment prefilter, depending on water conditions and use. Other cartridges and the main treatment media follow their own specifications; the standard UPSTREAM media capacity is published as 1,000,000 gallons. Confirm the schedule for your actual equipment.
Is a kitchen drinking-water system still useful with whole-home treatment?
It can be, depending on your goals. Whole-home equipment serves the incoming supply; an under-sink system focuses on kitchen water. Reverse-osmosis models have a dedicated drinking faucet, while the single- and two-stage under-counter units use the existing faucet. A separate kitchen system is an option to evaluate, not an automatic requirement.
How long should installation take?
A typical whole-home installation takes approximately half a day for the plumbing connection, setup, flushing and checks. Your installation time depends on access, equipment and any additional work identified during the property review.
Where does BullDog Water provide service?
Service areas include Houston, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth and surrounding communities. Provide your ZIP code so the team can confirm availability for your specific request.
How is BullDog Water connected to the wider company?
BullDog Water is the water-treatment division of Bulldog Security Services, LLC and installs and services HomeWater equipment. History, awards and ratings associated with the parent company describe that broader business.
